Wild Dagga (Leonotis leonurus), also known as Lion’s Tail or sometimes Wild Cannabis, is a striking plant that originates from Southeast Africa. For centuries it has been traditionally used in local herbal practices and was valued for its various natural properties.

The plant was introduced to the Netherlands around 1650, during the VOC period. According to historical accounts, Jan van Riebeeck, who was stationed in Africa at the time, is believed to have brought the plant to Europe.
