Sterilizing the Plastic Filter Jars

These plastic filter jars can be sterilized in a pressure cooker, making them suitable for preparing sterile substrates.

If you plan to sterilize the jars while filled with substrate, please follow these instructions:

1. Close the lid only ¾ of the way before placing the jars in the pressure cooker.

2. Cover the lid with a double layer of aluminum foil to prevent moisture from entering.

3. After sterilization, tighten the remaining ¼ of the lid once the jars are removed from the pressure cooker.

This final step is important because the jars are designed to seal very tightly. Fully closing them during sterilization may cause the jars to deform due to pressure differences.
