Psilocybe azurescens is considered one of the strongest psilocybin mushroom species in the world. Lighter in color than Psilocybe cubensis but significantly more potent, this species thrives on wood-based substrates and dune grass. The mycelium typically produces mushrooms from early November through late December, sometimes extending into January depending on climate conditions.

Due to its strength, this species is not recommended for beginners and is intended for experienced users.

Required Materials for Outdoor Setup

The following products are not included in the grow kit.

• 10 liter bag of small beech wood chips approximately 5 mm
• Brown cardboard box maximum depth 15 cm approximately 30 x 30 x 15 cm
• 1 liter plastic container with lid
• 1 liter soil optional
• Grass seeds optional

11 Step Outdoor Cultivation Plan

Step 1
Fill a 1 liter plastic container two thirds with wood chips. Pour boiling water until fully submerged.

Step 2
Let it soak for 12 hours or overnight. Drain the water.

Step 3
Wash your hands thoroughly. Open the grow kit and gently break up the mycelium with a clean fork.

Step 4
Mix the grow kit contents with the moist wood chips. Distribute evenly.

Step 5
Cover with wet brown cardboard. Place the lid loosely so the mycelium can breathe.

Step 6
Leave at room temperature in a clean space for about one month. The substrate is ready when fully white with mycelium.

Step 7
Soak the remaining wood chips in boiling water in a bucket or large pot.

Step 8
Leave overnight and drain thoroughly.

Step 9
Wash your hands. Fill the cardboard box with both colonized and fresh soaked wood chips.

Step 10
Mix everything evenly.

Step 11
Bury the open cardboard box in a shaded area under a shrub or tree. Optionally add a 1 cm layer of moist soil and sprinkle grass seeds.

Harvesting Your Azurescens

Mushrooms usually appear around November. A good indicator for harvesting is when the veil under the cap begins to loosen.

When harvesting

• Pull upward carefully
• Remove one by one to avoid damaging the mycelium
