Sterilized Mushroom Grow Substrate

With this ready-to-use Sterilised Mushroom Substrate  you have a complete base for starting your own cultivation project. The only additional item required is a spore syringe or liquid culture.

The substrate has been carefully formulated to create a balanced and supportive environment for mycelium development. It consists of oat flakes, vermiculite, perlite, and gypsum, with an optimal moisture level of approximately 60–65%. This composition supports healthy colonisation and steady growth under controlled conditions.

Thanks to the included humidity tent (grow bag) and practical accessories, you can begin immediately. The setup is straightforward and suitable for both beginners and more experienced growers who prefer convenience and reliability.

Ingredients and/or composition

• Sterilised substrate (oat flakes, vermiculite, perlite, gypsum)
• Humidity tent (fruiting chamber/growing bag)
• Paperclip (to close the tent)
• Alcohol swab
• Injection port

Use

1. Inoculating the substrate
   Use a spore syringe, spore ampoule or liquid culture to inoculate the substrate.
   • Spore syringe: 5 ml for 1200 cc substrate, 10 ml for 2100 cc
   • Spore ampoule: half ampoule for 1200 cc, whole ampoule for 2100 cc
   • Liquid culture: 2 – 5 ml per litre per 1000 cc
   • Homemade liquid culture: first inject 2 ml of spores into the vial, wait 2 weeks, then use the full vial in the substrate.
2. Incubation
   Place the vial with the lid closed in a warm, dark place (±23 °C). A heat mat or heated room can help. Monitor the temperature with a thermometer.
3. Colonisation
   Leave the substrate alone until it is completely white with mycelium. This usually takes several weeks.
4. Prepare for fruiting
   Fill the container with cold water, seal it and put it in the fridge for 24 hours. Then pour off the water.
5. Fruiting
   Place the container in the grow bag/humidity tent. Ensure a temperature between 23-28 °C, sufficient humidity and some daylight. Spray regularly and allow fresh air.
6. Daily care
   Open the tent twice daily for fresh air and to mist. Within a few days, the first mushrooms appear. Harvest them in time, before the membrane under the cap cracks.
7. New flushes
   Repeat steps 5 and 6 after harvesting. You can harvest several times – often the second and third flushes are the most productive.
