Real Mad Honey Turkey, also known locally as Delibal or Mad Honey of the Caucasus, is a rare variety of wild honey produced in the Black Sea region of Turkey, particularly in the areas of Rize and Trabzon.

This honey is made from the nectar of Rhododendron ponticum and Rhododendron luteum flowers. These rhododendron species naturally contain grayanotoxins, compounds that can be present in the final honey and contribute to its distinctive characteristics.

Compared to the Nepalese variety, Turkish Mad Honey is typically lighter in color and is known for its unique regional profile. Its long history in the Black Sea region has made it a well-known specialty product with a strong cultural background.
